About Nicole

I am a licensed, clinical social worker with psychoanalytic training.  I graduated from Law School at Otago University in New Zealand in 1984 and returned to graduate school at NYU in 1998 to complete a Masters in Social Work.

I work with individuals and couples dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, divorce, loss and grief, substance abuse, and eating disorders. I was a clinician at the Program for Managing Eating Disorders Research Unit at New York State Psychiatric Institute.  I have worked extensively in the addictions field since 1990 and have been in private practice since 2000.

I prefer a multifaceted approach to treatment that focuses on symptom reduction as well as exploration and resolution of underlying issues -- interpersonal, familial, psychological, and cultural.  Collaboration with--and referral to--physicians, psychiatrists, or nutritionists are available.
